Postdoctoral Research Associate Mooney Lab This position is located at the UNC Nutrition Research Institute in Kannapolis, NC near Charlotte, NC. A postdoctoral position is available in a developmental neurobiology laboratory at the Nutrition Research Institute, UNC Chapel Hill. The lab is focused on understanding outcomes following developmental exposure to environmental toxicants, particularly alcohol, and investigating the role of nutrition as a risk factor and a treatment. Future studies will identify genetic contributions to outcomes and nutritional needs. Applicant should be well trained in at least one of the following: rodent behavior, anatomical analyses (e.g., stereology, Sholl analysis), biochemical and molecular biology techniques (e.g., western blotting, ELISA, PCR). Other skills should include organization, record-keeping, team-work, and strong communication skills. Postdoctoral Research Associate Human Research Core

Postdoctoral Research Associate Human Research Core This position is located in Kannapolis, NC (2 hours from Chapel Hill). Postdoctoral research associate needed to assist at a highly independent level with human nutrition research. Candidate will participate in the planning and conduct of clinical studies, helping with participant recruitment, assessments, clinical investigations, data management, interpretation of results, and writing reports. Candidate will be expected to learn the full range of instruments (including DEXA, BodPod, Biodex dynamometer, FibroScan, whole room indirect calorimeter), and procedures used for studies. Ability to design and conduct human research, knowledge of human physiology, metabolism and responses to nutrition, ability to compose error-free English-language documents typical in the course of conducting human studies (such as IRB applications, descriptions, grant applications, reports and manuscripts for publication). Doctorate in Nutrition, Biochemistry, Human Biology, Medicine or comparable disciplines required. Ability to lead and assist test subjects during exercise challenges also required. Postdoctoral Research Associate-The Sergey Krupenko Lab at the Nutrition Research Institute

Postdoctoral Research Associate S. Krupenko Lab This position is located in Kannapolis, NC (2 hours from Chapel Hill). The Sergey Krupenko Lab at the Nutrition Research Institute is seeking two energetic and talented postdoctoral researchers to study the function of folate enzymes ALDH1L1 and ALDH1L2 in cellular metabolism and their association with human diseases. The projects will utilize cell culture and mouse models to answer questions about the role of folate metabolizing enzymes and dietary folate in liver and brain function, tumorigenesis, cancer progression, and metastasis. The postdoc will study the role of ALDH1L1 and ALDH1L2 enzymes in the regulation of cellular metabolism and association of these proteins with human diseases. Educational Requirements: PhD in biochemistry or other relevant field. Required Qualifications: Experience with protein expression & purification and modern cell biology techniques. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with mouse studies.
